In this course, students will become familiar with Dangerous Goods substances which can pose a hazard to health, safety, property, or the environment as determined Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) set forth by both ICAO and IATA. In addition, students will gain knowledge of the most current regulations for will carry operators. Specifically, by the end of the DGR Course, students will be able to define the general philosophy and purpose of the DGR, understand the limitations and exceptions of the regulations, identify the nine classifications of Dangerous Goods materials, proper labeling and marking as well as the transport documentation required by the DGR. Students will also learn to recognize undeclared and hidden dangerous goods items that may require a more thorough look and determine the correct emergency procedures in the event of a situation involving a Dangerous Goods substance.
